TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR FAMILY AND WHAT YOU DO FOR A LIVING.
I retired from my position as Church Administrator at CHBC after working here for 19 years! I now spend time applying my administrative gifts to my role as our HOA President as well as some personal interests. I pursue my hobbies of quilt-making, cross stitch, other handcrafts, and my love of solving puzzles (especially sudoku). My husband, Byron, is also retired, and helps with the preschool class on Sundays. We have been married 42 years. We have one son, Scott, who has been married 8 years. He and his wife, Natasha, are both teachers.
HOW DID YOU BECOME A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST?
When in 7th grade, I was invited to a revival at a church in a neighboring town by a school friend of mine. Although I had been attending church all of my life, that occasion was the first time I heard a message that made me realize that the gospel applied to me, that I was the sinner in need of the saving work of Jesus on the cross. I devoured the Bible and spent many hours discussing what I read there with my friend. In college, I was further convinced of the necessity of living my life for Christ and the futility of understanding life on any basis other than the gospel. I came down to UNC for grad school in 1980 and have attended Chapel Hill Bible Church ever since.
HOW DO YOU HOPE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE MISSION OF CHBC?
I believe that my gifts and experience in administration at this church will aid me in helping to serve our church in the areas of resources, facilities, and other behind-the-scenes matters. My 19 years on staff enables me to bring a unique perspective to the role of deacon. In this season of changes to that role, I think that I may be able to serve our church in helping to create a new sense of the role of deacon that will serve our church long into the future.
