Knowing God’s Will (Part 5) – Open Doors
Every decision requires a prevailing desire (or at least a collection of related desires), the ability to perform the decision, and also an open door. Without an open door, you are dealing with dreams and not reality.
Knowing God’s Will (Part 4) – Can I Do It?
After we ask ourselves the question ‘Do I want to do this?’, we must ask ourselves the related question: ‘Can I actually do this?’ In fact, our desires mean very little if they are not backed by ability.
Knowing God’s Will (Part 3) – Examining Your Desires
How do I know what God’s will is for me in a particular decision? Last week, I said that discerning God’s will is like a three-legged stool…
The first instrument, or leg of the stool, is desire. Wait! Hold on! I thought the Bible warns us about desire?!
Knowing God’s Will (Part 2) – The Ground of God’s Will
How do I determine God’s will in decisions? Which way should I go? Can I get off track and be journeying to a place God did not intend for me?
In this series on God’s will, I am going to give you a fully authenticated, guaranteed, pastor-approved way of figuring out God’s will for your decisions.

June 5, 2024 Annual Meeting Recap
We welcomed over 320 participants, beginning with dinner together and continuing into the main content of the evening’s gathering. Among that number, we easily exceeded the required quorum of our membership. For those who were unable to join us, below is a summary of the evening…
From Your Elders – April 2024 Update
If you have been tracking with us through our Membership Gatherings as well as other periodic updates, the Elders have shared that we have been working on updated “job” descriptions for the Elder and Deacon roles. As we simultaneously 1) consider the forthcoming proposed bylaw changes, 2) continue to venture into policy governance as CHBC’s system of governance and 3) expand the role of parishes in our system of care, we recognized that roles and responsibilities of the Elders and Deacons would necessarily change while still operating within the Scriptural framework for these two offices.
February 7, 2024 Membership Gathering Recap
Thank you to all those who came out to our membership gathering this past Wednesday night, February 7! It continues to be a joy to lean into these rhythms of gathering, breaking bread, sharing, and growing together as the body of Christ.
For those who were unable to join us, we were sorry to miss you, but hope you’ll be able to join in next time!
From Your Elders – December 2023 Update
In addition to meeting to pray monthly, the Elders have been working with the Deacons on proposed bylaw changes and updates to the Employee Handbook. Many of these changes are responsive to recommendations from consultants we hired over the past several years.
From Your Elders – November 2023 Update
Each month a different elder sends a brief message on behalf of the board of elders to share updates on some of the work we are doing and to invite you to get to know us a little better. This month’s update is from Kyle McManamy:
